Junior Vulcans

Junior Vulcans is our youth programme for boys and girls aged 11 to 16.
We train every Wednesday evening, 7:15-8:30pm, at University of Chichester Sports Dome.

Junior Vulcans is open to all, whether your child has played handball before, or if they are curious about trying our sport for the first time. Our knowledgeable and highly-qualified coaches will assess your child’s needs and create training programmes to support their development. Whether your child is looking for a fun sporting activity to try, or has more serious ambitions to develop their handball skills, everyone is welcome.

- Year-round activity;

Vulcans Handball Club works in partnership with two other leading youth handball clubs – Guildford Sabres and Petersfield Jags. Together the three clubs seek to enhance the experiences available to our young players, including coordinating additional training, matches, tournaments and social opportunities.

Progression beyond youth handball
For 15+ year old boys who want to continue their journey with handball there is the opportunity to progress from Junior Vulcans to our men’s team. The men’s team compete in the England Handball Association (EHA) Regional Leagues (see our Men’s team page for more information).
As a smaller sport in the UK, handball offers some fantastic opportunities to young players which are far more accessible then the equivalent in bigger sports. This includes selection for EHA regional programmes and England and Great Britain sides at junior level, international travel and even international gap-year residential programmes with professional European clubs!
We are extremely proud of the number of former junior players to have been chosen to represent the country at both junior and senior levels in recent years:
- Great Britain under 18s:
- James Fance; and
- Mark Szeni
- Great Britain under 20s:
- Kameron Forward; and
- Ellis Hopkins
- Great Britain senior men’s team:
- Will Carter
While Vulcan’s Handball Club does not currently have an adult women’s team, it is our ambition to do so in the near future.
