Junior handball
We work with our youth handball partners The Handball Academy to deliver handball for 11-16 years old boys and girls across our region.
The Handball Academy run two clubs – Guildford Sabres and Petersfield Jags.
Guildford Sabres
Christ’s College Sports Hall, Guildford, Larch Avenue, GU1 1JY
Training Times:
U16’s: Wednesdays 6pm-7pm (Term Time Only)
U14’s: Wednesdays 5pm-6pm (Term Time Only)
Petersfield Jags
The Petersfield School (TPS) Sports Hall, Cranford Road, Petersfield, GU32 3LU
Training Times:
- U16 Boys: Tuesdays 5pm-6pm (Term Time Only)
- U14 Boys: Tuesdays 6pm-7pm (Term Time Only)
- U14 and U16 Girls: Tuesdays 7pm-8pm (Term Time Only)
Both clubs compete in England Handball Association (EHA) competitions at Under 14 and Under 16 levels.
New members are welcome at all times, and no previous experience of handball is required.

Progression beyond youth handball
For 16+ year old boys who want to continue their journey with handball there is the opportunity to move up to the Vulcans men’s teams. Our Under 19 and adult men’s teams compete in England Handball Association (EHA) leagues (see our Men’s team page for more information).
As a smaller sport in the UK, handball offers some fantastic opportunities to young players which are far more accessible then the equivalent in bigger sports. This includes selection for EHA regional programmes and England and Great Britain sides at junior level, international travel and even international gap-year residential programmes with professional European clubs!
We are extremely proud of the number of current and former junior players to have been chosen to represent the country at both youth level (under 18 and Under 20) and full senior level in recent years.
While Vulcan’s Handball Club does not currently have an adult women’s team, it is our ambition to do so in the near future.
